Trains, Planes, and Automobiles

Did I hear someone say “Travel Week”. We had one week to travel around Europe and we did just that. We got to see three new countries and four stunning cities.

We began our adventure in Rome, Italy. It was here what we ventured to some of Rome’s major sites. We started our first day in Rome strong. We woke up and made breakfast. We were so excited to finally eat eggs for breakfast!

After breakfast, we hit the city. First, we visited the famous Colosseum. We toured the beautiful historical architecture. I seriously learned so much. There is a cross within the Colosseum, but it hasn’t always been there. Guess who was the one to bring the cross back inside the Colosseum? Mussolini! That fact blew my mind away.

In Rome, we were able to see the Roman Forum, the Palastine Hill, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, the Vatican, and the Sistine Chape. We packed our days in Rome with a lot of site seeing.

Choo choo! We took the train to beautiful Venice! We got off the train and outback jaws dropped. I have never seen any place like Venice. The little bitty canals flowing between the pastel building and the bridges that connect the streets together literally took my breath away. It was a magical place. Our objective in Venice was to ’get lost’ and just explore... and it is safe to say that we did just that. This goal was not difficult to achieve. ;)

Off to destination three and four, Nice and Monte Carlo. While our time was much shorter in these two spots, I found them to be my favorites. We landed in Nice and we immediately headed the the beach. We sat on the beach and relaxed by the Mediterranean ocean for a couple hours. The next day we ubered to Monte Carlo, Monaco.

In Monte Carlo, we sipped on coffee and tea by the Marina. We people watched as locals enjoyed their saturdays rowing, sailing, running, walking, and gambling at the well known Casino. It was a dreamy afternoon.

We returned to Nice and enjoyed a nice stroll along the beach and found the tastiest little macaroon shop. It was the perfect way to end our travel week around Europe.
